Waking up at 3 AM in the freezing cold of the Colorado mountains is no easy feat, but it was worth it to catch the Milky Way at this time of year in the northern hemisphere. I didn't grasp the urgency until I saw the first exposure—I was racing against the rising sun in the east! I cherish these fleeting moments in nature photography; that's where the magic truly happens!
